Strange behavior of my MK3 display

ce my last update of my MK3i the watch shows a strange behavior - no matter if it is set tondisplay always on or off it switchws after 30 seconds tona kind of a slideshow that shows different app screens inna loop - how can Indisable this absolutely useless and battery killing feature??

  • Looks like one of the left buttons (either Up or Down) is stuck. Place the watch to a container with clean lukewarm water for an hour or so, and see whether it helps. When using the watch in the sea, but also after workouts, or pool usage, always immediately thoroughly rince the watch with fresh water. It is a good idea to have a bucket or a bottle of freshwater with you, when going to the sea, and rinsing the watch immediately before the water dries and the salt deposit clogs the buttons. Then again rince it when you come home, or submerge it to fresh water for some time.

And if the "slide-show" happens only during an activity, then you may have enabled it in the activity settings. Review them, and disable the option.

If it does not help, I recommend reaching out to the Product Support through their website at https://support.garmin.com.

  • not sure if it is a mechanical problem - the different screens show fake data and it feels like the watch is somehow in a kind of shop and sales mode (when being presented in a shop and showing different features of the watch in a kind of a slideshow style) - need to find out how to stop these animations :-)

  • Yes, I think there is a demo mode too. Try restarting the watch. If it does not help, there is combination of keys for accessing the test mode, but I have to look it up. I forgot how it is for the MK3

  • .. ah in fact it is not in the Test mode screen, but in the Developer menu. To access it, you have to go to Menu » System » About, and then press the Light button 8 times. You will be presented with the Developer menu, and the Demo Mode is one of the items there.
