Garmin Descent MK3 up button or software issue?

I recently received my first Garmin ever, Descent MK3 43mm.

During navigating through the menus I have noticed strange behavior with the up button. Sometimes the watch will continue to scroll up once or twice without a press of the up button.

In the video look at third and the last press of the button.

Is this a button or software issue? Is it something happening in Garmin watches in general?

I am thinking of returning the watch as I can do so within 30 days.

Other than that I love the watch so far.

I did not notice that behaviour on my mk3i 51mm. Before I were using a fenix 6 for a couple of years, also without such an issue.

Looks like a slightly stuck button (due to the deposit of salt residua. Or rests of soap, or sweat). Drop the watch into lukewarm water, let it there for an hour (or more), and see whether it helped. Always rinse the watch in freshwater after a dive, as soon as possible (before it dries). Not a bad idea to have a bucket or a bottle with freshwater for electronics, on the boat.

Hi trux,

thank you for your advice.

However the device was brand new and only tested indoor, the issue was existing from the first second onwards.

I have returned the watch.

I do appreciate your suggestions anyhow, and will keep them in mind with my future device (whichever it will be).

I have returned my watch, you should probably replace yours also, since others report no such issues.
