MK3i is missing a 5.0 Dive View map

I just find that my new MK3I 51mm does not seem to have a map with Dive Sites Map 5.0 installed, which has led to repeated prompts to update Dive Sites Map 5.0 when connecting to Garmin Express.

Moderator: The Dive View map 5.0 that is not currently updating through Garmin Express is 'not' the same as the Dive POI's that are coming from a completely different file.

But i find my MK2I  do have the dive sites map 5.0

So, A huge bug or joke? MK3i without a dive sites map 5.0?

  • Sorry to expand

    1. A Dive computer without a Dive Sites map???

    2. An Alpine Skiing app that tracks uphill ski lifts and queue waiting ting time in your downhill ski???

Sorry I have no confirmation of this as I am not sure anyone has been skiing with the Descent Mk3i. I will post an update in about 10 days time as to whether the Descent has the same issues as the & series 7.

I am praying it is a different team and the Alpine Skiing app is as intended on the Descent.

  • Well, having a skiing map is not really the point. All GARMIN sports watches seem to have skiing maps, including my fenix5 and MK2i, but it is shocking that the MK3i does not have a dive sites map. I hope garmin development team can quickly find this bug and fix it as soon as possible. Just like u say,I use mk3I just for diving not for skiing.

  • This exactly happens to me too.

    It is frustating.

  • The v15.62 update has resolved the issue.

  • Bit of clarification, but this isn't about updating to v5.00. They are not even installed on the device to begin with, there is no older version to update from. And since there seems to be some coding that prevents us from ticking/unticking the "required maps", we cant even choose it to be installed.

PS: My watch/garmin express is also lacking that "City Navigator" category completely

  • From your watch face, press and hold your middle left Menu button to go into the menu. Quick press the middle left button again to see System. Select System. Go up (or down) to highlight then select the About menu. You will eventually see Dive POI listed.

If you view your Map Manager, you will see DiveView 2.0. This is correct. DiveView is not the same as the Dive Map POI's included.

  • I'm not sure if you are replying to the right person. But yes, I have in fact "DiveView 2.0". Isn't "Dive Sites Map" a separate thing though? That's what's missing from my device.

Edit: Followed your initial instructions and there is indeed "Dive POI Database 5.00" so I guess that's it. It is however not listed in map manager and garmin express shows it as uninstalled.

  • Still not clear to me how I can make use of the dive sites map.

In the Navigation activity there is no Dive Sites entry in the POI menu as I found via YouTube to exist in mk2

Also the only dive activity with a map data page is Apnoea.

I tried to zoom in using the Map activity at some dive sites I usually go diving. But  I only see a blue area without any depth information.

  • Yeah I don't think it is properly installed/functioning at this state. Waiting for a fix currently.
