Decided to check the new map manager on the watch, happened to find updates to all the maps, but the dive view one, so I decided to download them directly on the watch. However, it wanted to be plugged into power. Did so and I noticed the speed was not slow, but worse than slow...couple of minutes for only 1% download. At that point I decided to do the updates over with Garmin express. I had to add my watch, log into my account, all good. However it took a while to recognize the watch, then I started the updates and in a half hour or so they were finished. However I saw a new update and when trying to see the details it asked me to unplug and plug in the watch again. No matter that in the Garmin express it appeared with green dot as connected. I did so and it took forever and at least a couple of plug ins. I realized at that point that the watch was asking me to proceed with map download by itself. Upon checking the map manager on the watch none of the maps got updated and all were listed as queued. I restarted the watch, no change. Removed manually each map from the update queue, no change. Connected to Garmin express, only dive view map listed as available update…and on the watch it didn’t seem to have an update for the dive view map. Updated 5 times the dive view map in Garmin express and it always reappeared and had to reconnect watch after each time. At this point I gave up and it was clear it was a bug. Went to watch and saw still all maps to have an update. At this point I checked for updates on the watch and they disappeared! However the connect app on my phone started displaying a notification that my watch was connected to a different account and if I connected it in the app it would lose connection to the other?!! So I was totally baffled as to what is happening. I have only one account in Garmin, obviously Garmin express log in totally messed Garmin Connect on my phone i would lose the connection to the other account! Had to switch off and on Bluetooth to make the watch work properly and connect to Garmin Connect and the notification disappeared.
so in brief Garmin app integration on different platforms and devices is getting worse, and it was bad before…
