Disable the beeping from transmitter on the Descent MK2i

Is there any way to disable the transmitter from beeping? Its a deal breaker for me, I hate the constant beep every 5sec or so. I sure hope if there is not currently a way to do this that there soon will be or I wont be using this computer. Everything else about it is awesome and I dont really care about the ability to read your dive buddy's pressure so it seems that it should be an option we can select "no" to and not have to listen to that beep during a dive.

  • Garmin: Descent Mk2/Mk2i Updates & Downloads

Changes made from version 8.20 to 8.40:

Mk2i Only] Added a new, T1 transmit power setting - Low. This setting is quieter than the Normal setting, but may have reduced range. To use this setting, pressurize your regulator to turn your T1 on. Then go to Dive Setup > Air Integration > Transmitters > (your T1) > Set Transmit Power.

  • I tabled my Descent Mk2 due to the beeping, hoping a fix would come along; yet I still have it a year later. I have my transmitter on my 1st Stage. Please note, I am an scuba instructor trainer, and a multi-agency instructor for PADI, SSI, SDI and NASE. I have made thousands of dives around the world and certified more students than I can count. The beeping from the transmitter is annoying, unnecessary, and simply nuts. Yes, you can track other divers with it using sound. How many divers do that? Near zero. I already turned the volume down to its lowest setting for the transmitter, and it is still easily audible. Mind you, others can't hear it, but I clearly do! I called tech support and they advised you CANNOT turn off the beeping. Other than putting the transmitter on a long hose and thus, carry an unnecessary hose, has anyone else found a workaround?

Unnecessary? The sound is used for the communication between the transmitter and the watch. Without it, you could not read the tank pressure.

  • The tech is based on sonar emissions, there's no way round that unless you carry the bottle side slung, long hp hose works really well, if you put a splitter on the second stage makes no difference. I ran it with the spg line and taped them together
