I see the compass is actually available in apnea hunt in the other descent series, but not the G1. I think this should definitely be an available option. It would be the only way to know anything on so many dives in low visibility water.

You cannot access the Altimeter/Barometer/Compass screens by holding the Down button (left bottom), when in apnea hunt mode, or what?
Thx. What page is that? Is that during a dive? I’ll try to find it
That works from surface screen mode. I will have to try it underwater. I’m not sure how to view the dive screen on land to see if it works. Thx for posting
It works whenever, just like other hold-actions of the buttons. At least on Instinct, I do not have the G1.
Oh so the manual says “hold down button function don’t operate underwater” so this probably won’t work. I don’t think you can access compass in freedive mode underwater. It’s crazy to me but oh well.
Then try assigning a hot-key to the ABC or compass screen
Thx again. Will give it a try
Got abc programmed for start down…. Will have to see if it works underwater. Will report back
I really don’t think the abc compass is gonna work underwater. I’ll try it. There is a different looking underwater compass seen on the dive menus that it seems freedive modes have no access too. You CAN see the compass on the mk2 in apnea hunt mode though. So someone at Garmin did realize it’s important at least.
Will def give it a try. I wish there was a way to simulate underwater dive screen but I don’t think u can. Will have to try it on a dive
