Will there be a MARQ VERSION 2 now Epix and Fenix 7 have launched?

I was looking at my Marq Athlete this morning and still love the design.  I was thinking how good would it be if the Epix tech was inside it!  Just seeing what other people think?

  • Fingers crossed for an announcement tomorrow!

  • Really disappointed - Garmin have released their IFA press statements but no mention of a MARQ, just Venu Sq 2, a kid's activity tracker and something for training dogs.

    :-(

I just can't see it happening now, at least not this year. Even if it wasn't ready to ship till later, surely they would have still announced it today like they did with the original MARQ IIRC? Let's hope I'm wrong though.

  • Still some days to go on IFA 2022! Its over on september 6.

  • That's true, but today is the press day when announcements are made, otherwise you get the public seeing new products (starting tomorrow) before they've even been announced, and you annoy the media because they miss their scoop. Of course, Garmin might not be displaying any new MARQ, but if they were announcing one I can't see why they would do it on a different day from their other announcements. Happy to be proved wrong though!

  • If it does not happen at IFA, it will probably be Jan23 at the earliest, at CES. This will be a huge disappointment if it is. That said, I believe the Marq should have its own launch event.

  • IIRC, the original MARQ launch was on Garmin’s 30th anniversary rather than at a trade event, so I guess there’s always a chance of an individual and maybe even low-key launch, a bit like how the Descent G1 was quietly released shortly after the Instinct 2 on which it’s based. Alternatively, I wonder if there are any luxury watch events between now and the end of the year, as this is clearly how Garmin views the MARQ line?

  • A separate launch event makes sense for these premium smartwatches. I hope soon then. I am waiting, and waiting and waiting….. No one wants to spend 1.500 or more on a smartwatch that is roughly 3,5 years old. Except for the Athlete, Garmin does not even sell them anymore online in Europe.

  • I have to say Apples announcement of the PRO series of Apple watch should be worrying Garmin. If the battery life is improved in future additions it will eventually become a real challenger.

If there is no Marq 2 on the horizon, then I think Garmin will be in danger of losing the luxury sector. People are ready to move on from the Marq 1.  I would also recommend that Garmin start telling their customers what is going to happen with the Mark series...there can't be an ambulance of stock left, and it is a focused clientele.

  • I too am looking forward to Marq v2 but I am convinced that Apple watch ultra has no impact on Garmin customers.

Possibly to new customers who have never used Garmin or elaborate sports programs ...

With the minus of course , no spiker , no LTE and no short afternoon sleep monitoring on Garmin
But is the only one that shows you static calories burned and more , not to mention battery .. 36h is comedy for an outdoor sports watch.

  • I don't think Garmin Marq an Apple watch PRO have the same target group. The apple watch is a cheap toy compared to a Marq.
