VERY impressive battery life on Marq Aviator..

I am on my first week with my Aviator and I am very impressed with the battery life.. let me explain..

First, I am coming from the Fenix 6 Sapphire, so I am used to nice long battery life.  For the way I use the watch (I will detail in a sec) I was re-charging the F6 every 7 maybe 8 days.

So far, the Aviator is on the same track and that is very interesting considering it is suppose to be 2 days less battery.

Here is how I use the Garmin watches (this is important as its different for everyone)

USE:

First, I don't keep Bluetooth or Wi-Fi on at all.  I DONT want a constant connection to my phone.  That's just not my style.  Also I have the O2 (Oxy) sensor off at all times and I have the MOVE IQ feature off (this is what constantly is looking at your movement and try's to automatically match to an activity) All day (and night HR is on tho).  I have a "sleep mode" power saver that kicks on at 10pm and turns off at 7am.  Sleep tracking is on tho.  6 days a week I use the watch for strength training about apx. 30 - 50min.  Once a week I do my run, with GPS for apx 30min.  One day is nothing.  The rest of the time that watch is just "on" me as I am home etc.  I use stock watch faces and don't "mess" with the watch much or play with it, other than checking in on Body Battery occasionally.

CHARGING:  I don't charge to 100%.  I charge to around 80 - 83% at the most.. and then will re-charge at apx 30 - 33%.  So, I use 50% of the battery at a time and I keep the battery in the healthy range for lithium cells.  (they don't like to be fully charged, nor too low).  This is key to try and get the longest life from the battery.   I have done this for over 10 years on all my devices with great results.  I would recommend this to anyone, especially on a costly device such as this.

So I last charged to 82% on Monday, and here I am Saturday afternoon (exactly 5 days later) at 55%.   So far this is apx. 5.4% per day drain. (0.225/hr).  At this rate I can see that I will surpass the 7-day goal that I had hoped for, and likely will be recharging on the 8th, or possibly even 9th day!

VERY impressed.  The build, the battery, the look & feel, The Marq's are REALLY something special, way more so than my other automatic watches, lol.  This truly does it all for me.

One of the things I love about most of Garmin's watches is that the re-charge cycle is always (generally) around a week vs.  other "smartwatches"  that only last about a day. This means the battery life cycles are MUCH longer between each charge and this is really good for longer term use.

  • Just wanted to update.  I got just about 9-days on my charge!  This was using 50% of the battery.  Again, read the above to see my use case.. but that it really incredible.

  • I don't know why you bother.  I had a Garmin 645 for three years, charged it to 100% about every 4-5 days and the battery was still at about 80% of the capacity at the end of life.
With my Marq, I easily get 7 days usage which means I can charge it at the same time each week. Yes, you're probably right I could get slightly longer battery life if I only charged to 80% but personally I'd rather have the battery reserve in case I need it. Garmin also do a battery replacement service for the Marq so that's another reason to use the batter to it's fully capability.

  • lol, well its good to know about the long term!  Thanks for the reply.
