Unable to update to 16.70

I am trying to update to 16.70, currently on 16.60, when connected to Garmin Express on a PC, I get notified for 16.70 update, click install, I get the installation process and everything and then once I disconnect the watch, there is no INSTALL coming up. If I connect back to GE, it says watch is 16.70 (which is normal since GE stores cache), once I reboot watch and restart GE, I get the SW update notification again.

Tried on 2x PC and 1x MAC, same

Check with Garmin but Aviator updates are usually separate.

Wrong, Aviator updates are always inline with rest of the MARQ series except for BETAS, but this is official release

Oops!

Check Settings, System, Software Update and see if the update is there to manually install.

Try Web Updater as that seems to work for some.

If not contact Garmin Support.

Check under software update and check "auto update" is on (turn on if not), then reboot watch and try again to update using GC. That happened to me recently and it was really hard to figure out.

Please attempt updating again. The correct update file should now be available for download.

I also have a Marq Aviator that is behaving strangely since updating to 16.70. I downloaded the update on Garmin Express and it installed as normal. After the watch restarted it shows that it is Version 16.60. Garmin Express also says that the watch has Version 16.60 installed.

I have turned the watch off and on, closed down Garmin Express and restarted it again. I then connected to Garmin Express and it says the watch is Version 16.60 and no update is available.

I'm not really surprised by any of this. I installed Version 16.60 on 18 May and that seemed to install correctly but the watch said it had Version 15.20 and so did Garmin Express. I turned the watch off and on but there was no change so I did a factory reset. However, the watch still said it was Version 15.20 as did Garmin Express. All my activities on Garmin Connect from 18 May until yesterday show the watch was on Version 16.60.

Garmin Connect shows the Version of my watch from my run this morning as 16.60 but the post activity screens on the watch were different and look like they are from a Version 16.70.

I tried to update my Aviator to 16.70. First effort failed which was likely server management not a local issue. A day later it updated but now I find the watch reports out 16.60 but Garmin Express reports that this watch is on 16.70. The watch itself is running just fine but there is glitch somewhere.
