Swapping settings/preferences to a new MARQ - are Garmin's "Backup Personal Settings Instructions" of any value?

I followed the steps outlined in the below link. I did not see that anything from my previous MARQ that I would have expected to be transferred over to the new MARQ (eg watch face, hot keys, widget selections, activity favorites, apps from ConnectIQ, etc).

Does this mean I didn't follow the procedure correctly, or is what's brought over extremely limited (eg more below the surface stuff like personal records stored on watch, which I have not checked on).

Wasn't expecting an Apple like upgrade/transfer experience from Garmin, but was surprised I didn't see any settings come over.

  • I suspect you did not follow the procedure correctly. I can’t speak for CIQ apps etc as I have none but all the other items you mention have come across fine. I have found that adding the contents of each folder separately to NEWFILES and disconnecting/reconecting etc. time has worked better than dropping everything in then disconnecting to allow transfer just once..

  • You won't get 'much' following just this procedure ... it' a little bit a shame ... Nerd

You have to install ALL needed CIQ apps (widgets, data fields, apps) first on the new device. (The same you had on old device)

After (!) that is done follow the procedure above and you will have (nearly) the same watch ... Sunglasses
