MARQ Astronomer?

Hey all! I was wondering if there is a chance we can get a MARQ specially for astronomers, star gazers and researchers? Astronauts and enthusiasts. I don't own a garmin watch yet cuz I think to wait for the next MARQ or Fenix but I would love to give my money for astronomer version of MARQ.

Does the appstore have good widgets and apps for asteonomers that can be installed on fenix or marq?

If someone is interested in this kind of watch lets brainstorm some of the features that it must have.

I'll start with the watch face which must be big as the fenix 6x pro or bigger and definitely have solar panel.

So there should be a planisphere with all the stars which you can zoom into. Polaris should be marked so it stands out and help with the compass which should be on the display too. Option to just move your hand around the sky and see stars and constellations in real time or static. Star, constellation or whatever locator so you can adjust your telescope.

Also on the display. Sun, Moon and planets movement in the sky and in which astrological sign in real time.Don't put the Earth there tho, we are on it so its ok. Just the other planets. Maybe make options which planets we can track on the display. Which stars, nebulas or only one planet if we want for example.

Show also on the main display: Sunrise, Sunset, day and night length. Moon phases. Incoming Moon/Sun eclipses.

Ok all add more later. This is enough for a start. Tell me what you think guys.

  • Also besides world topo maps they can add ultra hd map of the moon with all crater names and everything else so you can zoom and explore from your watch in parallel with your telescope.

Weather app so you can now when exactly you can/can't observe the sky.

    1. All the possible sensors abc etc.
  • I think nobody is interested in an astronomer version. :) Actually, Garmin can release a MARQ Astronaut version, which will target Astronauts who have a lot of money to buy these watches, instead of star gazers. :D It can have a rocket mission activity which records the speed of shuttle while going up and astronaut's heart rate. :)

There are some stellarium apps on the store but they're not deal breaker things, and you'll high probably prefer just to look at the apps on your phone.

  • Sis you are wrong on so many levels. First there are unlimited amount of astronomers compared to the few astroNOTS. Secondly NASA is fake like all space agencies and they don't go to space and they never went and they never will. So its should be Marq Astronomer.

  • Am I wrong? Smiley I haven't even wanted to be right, joking. MARQ collection is not for everyone, that's why they're same or worse Fenix 6, inside a beautiful case and much more expensive. Astronauts definitely have a lot of money, they can want to have a such expensive piece but, the issue is GPS won't function well out of earth. :)  Anyway, Garmin likes to realise user wishes. Just find more people willing to pay $2000 for an astronomer watch and Garmin will help probably. Post it in the Garmin's ideas page.

  • How do I find more people? Give me an idea. I submitted this idea to the garmin staff. You see most expensive mechanical watches are astronomers watches. Go check this for your self. I bet a lot of people will gladly give 2k for this kind of watch. I know I will! You know with all the watch faces displaying accurate and real time data. Bigger display etc. Even if you are not astronomer it will look cooler than the others. You think the people who buy the military versions are soldiers? Lol! They are poor as f88k. So please Garmin, make this happen!

  • You're probably inside some astronomer communities, forums etc. There'll be people who want the same there.

Post your idea here: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/forms/ideas/ Garmin reads there.

  • Don't forget that Garmin are a sports/fitness and aviation/marine company, not a smartwatch company.  I'm not sure astronomy would really be a fit for their portfolio and why they'd consider it.  That's not to say that a developer couldn't develop a CIQ app for stargazing, but I wouldn't expect Garmin to take any lead here.

  • Didn't knew garmin is sports and aviation company. I mean Ive seen marq captain or whatever the name was and they can sure include starmap for navigation. You know how the old sailors used to navigate and some of them still are. I don't know. Maybe I should create the watchface with the complications I want. Is there a watchface creator app for garmin watches?

  • How can someone call themselves an astronomer and deny space travel? LOL!

  • Don't put the Earth there tho, we are on it so its ok.

We are, I'm just not sure you are.
