Would you recommend the Marq for hiking/mountaineering?

I have owned the fenix 3 and 5x plus, currently sporting a 6x pro Having serious issues with the 6 x whr in climb or hike. It registers max heart rate up to 40% below the actual. I really like the metrics that are available but want accuracy +-15%. Anybody having real world issues with the marq that would deter them from buying again??  Any input is graciously acecpted!

  • In case heart rate is the most important I would not. The MARQ Expedition is not that much better than the Fenix 5x.

But for hiking and climb the other features are much more important for me. Every time a correct heart rate is that important I use the external belt

  • Thanks for your input,i I just got one so will give it a go and see how it works!!

  • I've had the expedition for about a year now. I took it up on Denali shortly after purchase. Frankly there have been a lot of software updates since then so it would probably be a different experience now. I've also done a fair amount of other climbing, cycling and running with it. I still like it and I would buy again. I didn't really like the "expedition mode" on Denali. Maybe it's been improved, but the lack of data was too much to lose for the extra battery life. I just used my solar charger to keep it going every few days. I kept turning off expedition mode to get my pulse ox. That was the most useful feature up high.

The only other issue is that the leather band does not really last. I'd call the strap fair quality, or maybe even low quality. It's pretty when it's new, but not for long after that. 9 months in, the first keeper loop broke. They don't sell the loops, so now it's $200 if I want a new one. I've never done any big stuff (like climbing) with the leather strap, so I feel like it should have lasted longer.
