Marq - 8.73 Beta Release

Hello MARQ customers,

The newest MARQ beta software is now available for your upcoming adventures! The beta below is not compatible with MARQ Aviator.

8.73 Change Log Notes:

Fixed an issue where a CIQ watch-face would crash if the user were to hit ‘Back’ from the incoming call page.
Fixed an issue where selection of an item in music lists (artist/genre) would yield a landing page for a different artist/genre.
Added support for downloading workout videos over Express or WiFi.
Added support for Grinding workouts, namely Fitness Test, Race Simulation and Intervals. (MARQ Captain.)
Added support for activities Grind Offshore and Grind Onshore. (MARQ Captain.)
Added support for activities Climb Indoor and Bouldering.
Added support for a routes summary page to the activity review flow for Indoor Climb.
Added support for the device to manually add a shot through the measure shot page in Golf.
Updated the look and feel of the weather app.
Updated the look and feel of the End of Activity flow.
Improved the UX layout for Altimeter, Barometer, and Notifications widgets.
Made several improvements to the music experience.

Yes that’s definitely the way it reads to me too; a MARQ Captain only feature.

Strange not to bring Fitness test to the other Marqs... Unless this is a special test well-known for the captains :-)

Ah, perhaps lost in language translation. Offshore and Onshore are nautical sailing terms, so nothing to do with fitness. They definitely sound and smell like sailing features, hence Captain variant only.

As for the terms 'grind' and 'grinding' there's this reference from Wikipedia if it helps https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grinder_(sailing_position):

A grinder is a crew member on a yacht whose duties include operating manual winches (called "coffee grinders") that raise and trim the sails and move the boom. It is a physically demanding role with a significant impact on a racing yacht's overall performance.

The AC50 class yachts used in the America's Cup competition have four positions (on each side) for grinders. These must be continuously operated to generate the hydraulic pressure needed by the yacht's controls. Until 2017, the machinery was arm operated winches. However, in 2017 Team New Zealand changed their grinding system to pedal operated positions similar to exercise bikes. This change reportedly gained a 40% increase in power delivered to the hydraulic system.
