Is charge socket the same?

Hi,

1st off Merry Christmas to You all !!

I am using a Fenix 5S+ but have a MARQ Athlete on the way, it should arrive somewhat after X-Mas.

Currently I protect the charge socket with the silicon cover-plugs, to my judgement it is necessary for sweat not getting into the socket.

Do these fit in the MARQ as well? For what I could recognize, the MARQ has another charge cable, so I do not know if the socket is the same.

best regards,

Ruud Westerhout

  • Not sure onnthe plugs (I haven’t ever heard about protectors), but the charge cables are definitely different. The 5+ series uses a plug in connector whereas the marq uses a FR945 type connector (but is not compatible)

I am not actually convinced a protector is at all necessary

  • The cables for the Marq and F6 are not interchangeable, the sockets are different even if they appear the same. You would need a different plug. FWIW, I’ve never used anything to prevent sweat getting into the  charging sockets on any of  935, 945, F5+, F6 or Marq that I’ve had over time.. I just make sure to wash them out and dry them before charging.

  • Hello claude512,

    Hello philip,

Thanks for both your answers. I guess I need to change my habits then. I did notice the cargecable work badly and purchased exchange after a few months of usage. When they also started to show connection problems I purchased these plugs, obviously too late. But yes I did not rinse the watch up until a few months ago. It is put in an ultrasonic cleaning device once a week for cleaning. But I do not wash it after each running session. Instead it is charging while I am in the shower.

I guess it will take some time until these silicon plugs will be available for MARQ, ic at all.

    Best regards,

    Ruud

  • I really don’t think you need to bother with any kind of silicone cap on the MARQ; even if you could find one to stay in place (it's a more 'open' port design). The connection points are so much bigger than those on the 5+ that they simply aren’t as vulnerable to connection issues. A picture paints a thousand words (MARQ Athlete vs Fenix 5+ Sapphire):

  • Hi Crispin,

Thanks for this answer and the picture which leaves no place for doubt! Today I might be able to put them next to each other myself, in high hopes no coverage is needed !

    Regards,

    Ruud
