Had suddenly a lot of issues with Marq Athlete - now OK

My issues with the athlete are now the following (last software update - had no issues before):

- syncing to Garmin Connect app via IPhone is impossible

- workout app: after pause cannot resume

- after activity: save/discard continuous loop

  • Oh, I will have to sell mine then as I already spent the money and clearly you will not allow that

sigh, so far this forum was above the trolls and clickbait titles that are so prevalent in the other subforums. I guess it was nice while it lasted

  • Have you tried to do a soft reset? Press and hold the light button until the screen blacks out totally (past emergency screen and time again). Then press short to start the device again. This keeps logged activity data and settings (but not necessarily daily data such as hr history, unless you succed in a sync). I do a soft reset after each update.

The sync issue is related to the mobile app, not the watch. My workaround (iOS app) when sync is not starting is to toggle BT off/on on my phone, and restart the app. If you have the opportunity to connect to wifi where you are, you could sync that way.

What kind of workout app are you using? A built in Garmin app or a downloaded third party app? If it is the latter, your problems may be related to that, and you may want to contact the developer.

  • App that gives issues after recovery is weight lifting.

    Save/discard issue with all apps.

Thanks for your suggestions but already tried all but nothing helped (WiFi in hotels do not work for syncing however). Soft reseted during infinite loop of saving/discarding, afterwards the same issues. Very disappointed. No issues during 4 months and now this.

  • Please go bother someone else will you? I am a Garmin user since 2005 and have no reason/time at all to bother other people. Get a life.

  • they propose to do a full reset, losing all my activities

You don't lose all your activities, just the user data - settings etc. PhysioTrueup will replace physiological data.

But that's probably not going to gain much benefit if the issue is not of Garmin's making.

Little consolation but it is quite possible the connection issues are not solely down to Garmin - www.macrumors.com/.../

And please, a little less of the hyperbole. It's getting tiresome. What's happened to common decency and courtesy? Throwing tantrums helps nobody. Perhaps if you stopped screaming and told us a bit more we might be able to help.

Is the issue with a default app or one that you have added?

    - after activity: save/discard continuous loop

You might think it's self-explanatory, but what do you mean?

Is this happening with every activity you try to discard or just this one?

Try to be a little less excitable and you'll get much better responses from the people in this forum who really want to help.

  • I am very happy with my new Marq. Best watch ever and I have been the owner of a garmin watch since the early start for many years ago. Regards from Denmark!

  • no purpose at all to get too excited but when the watch gets useless please allow me to get a little emotional. I do not necessarily expect any help here, it’s just FYI.

tonight I put the watch off and this morning it was still on time/date of last night. Did a soft reset, reinstalled and issue 2 and 3 disappeared so that’s already a success. Sync is still hopeless.

  • I apologize for mistreating you, must have had a bad day.

Your thread title reads like so many sensationalist ones in other forums, but as said if meant in earnest I apologize!

  •   Can you reach out to Garmin Product Support so that we can work with you directly on each of these issues? This way we can make sure the MARQ is working correctly and that there is no miss understanding too.

  • UPDATE

I did a full reset of the watch and this helped. I was afraid that I would lose all my data, but that did not happen (after the reset the watch syncs with Garmin Connect so all health/training data returns + the activities on the watch are not erased).

Bluetooth syncing seems to work again.

Very happy the watch works again as before (I did not have any major issues since buying it in May 2019). Very frustrated when this happened during my holiday abroad with a lot of work outs that I could not sync...

    Thanks for the help!
