MARQ Expedition lost some colors of the roads(track) and "forest" on TOPO maps after the last firmware update.

After the last firmware update, my expedition lost all the colors, that are usually shown for forest and tracks in the mountains. The tracks became in grey color and the "green" on the forest disappear. It was not like this, before the last firmware update that looks like Fenix 6.I checked and changed the "Theme"(new function), but the problem is not from this. Reinstall the TOPO maps few times, but result is same. I spoke with the company that sell the maps and they told me that the problem are not the maps, because they working perfect on Fenix 5, Fenix 6 and all Garmin devices. So, someone with the same problem?

Sorry for my English.  Slight smile

  • I believe I have the same - or similar - problem. The color palette is too dull. In addition, there are annoying diagonal lines in some regions. I have tried different themes, but the palette is worse than earlier.

The thing is, that I did a running session with maps and navigation after the most recent version update, and at that time the colors where as expected.

The only (known) update I have done is the recent language update yesterday. I do not use English as language.

  • On my watch after the update - missing some colors and the map looks very poor. It doesn't matter on exercises or on navigation - nothing change.

  • I have tried various settings on the MARQ now, with no effect. Still very poor coloring and diagonal lines for some regions. And it varies with map themes. But all themes are really poor, and basically useless as of now  :-(

Could it be, that some file (for map colors) where overwritten with the recent language file updates?

  • I don't think. Us i told you, I didn't  make any updates of the languages, but the colors of the map are still poor. And yes, cannot  change them from themes and from other settings. I think, that is some general problem. Hope, that Garmin will fixed with the next firmware update.

  • Updated information:

I changed the map "theme" on "none" and everything was fixed. Now all the colors are here. It was my mistake, because I tried all the themes(dark, high contrast, by system...), but never use "none". So, everything with the watch now is Ok, and the problem was by my fault.

  • Good to hear.

I have been flipping through the settings as well, and have a very dull/dark color palette in the "none" theme. It reminds of some of the Garmin published illustrations - so it might be as "it should". All colors are dark/dull but correctly depicting the surroundings. A bit hard to read as I am on the bike, but as I did switch on high contrast it is brighter, and it may have been so, that I did use high contrast earlier... but my memory tells me something else...and I was initially convinced that the colors where whiter/brighter out of the box in the "none" setting.
