Phased Rollouts

When Garmin do phased rollouts of fw updates, why don't they provide a link to the fw to allow people to do manual updates too? I fully understand the reason for staged rollouts, but I'd guess the amount of owners who'd actually be aware of and carry out a manual update would only be in the manner of a few percent. Besides, these are also going to be the owners most likely to heavily test the updates and identify any issues, so why not capture them early on in the rollout?

I think with the battery life problem we are having for the last month or more we should be allowed to manually update since it is such a big problem.

How long do these rollouts usually take?

agreed that they could do the same than for betas, publish them here also

I have seen a week to be the usual for 100% when I usually get the update.

Garmin does, but only after the 100% notice

The update mechanism for these roll outs (a single update file delivered via GCM or Express) does is generally pretty stable, but in case there are issues with the update not installing and or causing boot loops on customers devices they are making sure they don't put everyone in a bind at the same time. This is a pretty standard update practice and one that Microsoft follows for windows updates. The difference is that they tend to allow for seekers to get the latest version update via a manual trigger if they go looking for it. Garmin could improve the process by allowing some sort of manual update process.

So, what you're saying is repeatedly checking for updates in Garmin Express won't help get the update sooner. Here's to hitting the sync button with hope.
