New features to be ported to MARQ (from Fenix 6)

Well, somebody had to do it...

What features do you think will be ported to the MARQ line from the new Fenix 6 that got launched today? (link to DC Rainmaker review:  clicky here)

Whilst there is an  argument that all features should be ported to the top-of-the-line model (the MARQ series that is), personally I'd like to see the following:

* Widget glances and map themes. Second priority would be watch faces (which traditionally Garmin never did) and maybe more data fields (although I never had an issue with the 4 limit). Widget glances and map themes are certainly a must I think, as the MARQ supports all the same maps as the 6 PRO line

* Power manager and power modes features. With the constant threads on battery life i think these are a must too

PacePro would certainly be a must-have feature for the athlete, maybe less so for the other models

What do you think, and wish for?

  • What do you think, and wish for?

TrueUp that actually works and synchronizes between my Marq Aviator and Edge 1030, Something that seems to be mystifying the Garmin Corporation. Of course my high-end and expensive Garmin devices keep insisting on having different values and training statuses even after countless reboots, reformats, hard/soft resets, setting changes back and forth, firmware updates, black magic recommendations to fix the issue and chicken voodoo sacrifices.

  • Love the F6 watch face on the Marq.

  • loving this new one in particular. So much more legible to me than the standard MARQ Expedition face. I’m glad Garmin took the time to really optimize design of these new faces for the resolution. The fonts, lines etc are more specifically designed to look good for the screens. You don’t have the resolution of an Apple Watch, but they’ve really tailored and anti-aliased these to look great.

  • Hi, love the watch strap on that Expedition. Been struggling to find a colour match like that, which one is it please?

  • Titanium bracelet from the MARQ Aviator!

Also works very well with the opposite, expedition strap on an Aviator:

  • I used to have a 5 with the (native Garmin) boat data and autopilot apps.

I now have a MARQ Expedition, which I can't install those apps on, and therefore can't use that functionality when I sail.

I appreciate Ray's review mentioned all functionality would eventually be ported across, but

    1. will these apps be installable on the F6?
    2. I posted this query before the F6 was announced/released, and Garmin said there were no plans to make this functionality available to any MARQ except the Captain -- is this still true?

I find it frustrating how each MARQ's "unique" features are just software that could be supported on any MARQ, but Garmin are being selective in how this is shared. My Expedition's "unique" features are now available on the F6, for instance. Yet the Captain's "unique" features were always available on the F5.

  • Absolutely loving the new features on the Marq from the recent update. I feel like I have a completely new watch!

Especially digging the six display fields in activities:

And loving the widget layouts and watch faces:

  • Wow, I didn’t realize you could put the new graphic gauges into any field, I only put them top and bottom! Great!!

Yes I like the new features too! I just think the aviator looks only good with the aviator-style watch face, otherwise use of the bezel is lost

to each his own, choice is good!

  • Actually scratch the above, I found one of the fenix watch faces that works really really well with the captain strap (on the aviator still):

couldn’t be happier about the watch!

  • Can you PLEASE tell me how to do that? I have looked in Connect and on the MARQ. I don't see anything obvious. Connect does not appear to let me add any Data Fields. Please HELP. Many thanks.
