Gps FW 2.50 first result

Just went out for a run on my usual course, with the MARQ newly updated to GPS 2.5

I have to say, the result is by far the best gps track I have ever seen from a garmin watch. GPS + Galileo (which has been specifically mentioned in the release notes), blue sky, about half under quite dense tree cover

I’ll keep on using it and report back, but for today I am very happy!

I did a short test-hike and a run with the GPS2.5 and my 945. Like you I tested Galileo because it was mentioned to have some improvements. Though 2 tests prove nothing I was quite impressed and I'll keep the GPS+Galileo for a trail-race this weekend. It's significantly better than my Fenix5+ with the same setting.

Here's a screenshot... the route is nothing difficult per se, but before it would generally struggle in the start/end are (lower left), and struggle A LOT in the wooded area (the sat image shows it like the path is free of cover, but at this time of year it isn't, it is fully overgrown with massive foliage)

Going deeper into the details I'd say it is <1m accuracy in that area now with Galileo + GPS (before the update it jumped around like crazy)

keep in mind this is a short route, and nothing too difficult, and also only a first test.

I've found GPS is a fickle mistress, some days it's great some days it's rubbish for the exact same route... we'll see in the coming weeks if this performance is the norm then!

I do not believe there is any major improvement with Galileo. I did my usual trail run which I have been doing for years and do not see any improvements: see below:

GLONASS

GALILEO

As regards the distance, it was a little shorter with Galileo vs Glonass.
