Expedition Died!

Click here to play this video

Hi,

I have no way to express how mad and how hehwjqjebe I am feeling now.

I returned a 245 becauae issues,  then a 945 because the buttons were not working and now my new expedition died.

Was seating at my desk,  looked at the watch to see the time and the screen blank.  Tried to power it on and the heart rate light flashes but device does not power on.  Connected to power for an hour and nothing.

wtf Garmin really WTF!!!!

Less that a week of use and it died.

See video attached !

When I returned the 945 I said on this same forum that I was done with u Garmin,  then I decided to spent more money on a “lexury Marq” and this is what I get?

I havent even used the watch yet on an activity! Is new! Just 5 days! And it died!!!!!

I am so f mad right now.

  •   I'm sorry for the experience you had with your MARQ and I personally haven't seen anything like that before. Due to that, if you were still having this issue with the screen not turning on, I would have already sent you a private message asking if I could get the device from you so that to look at. Since it is working and you have reset it, there are no log files for me to get from you to see what caused that screen to turn off on you but if it ever does it again, please reach out to me directly so I can work with you on getting that watch in and get you another one in a timely matter.

Also, thank you for plugging your device into the computer and updating the software on the device. It is interesting that after you did that, the screen did turn back on so if you would still like to send me a private message explaining all that happened, I will be happy to see if I can recreate it here.

So sorry again, but remember Garmin cares and if there is an issue we want to know about it.

Thank you for tagging me to this to bring it to my attention.
Former Member Thank you for re-enoding the video for everyone.

Everyone else, thank you for keep reminding me why I love my job working here in the forums with all you. Seeing all the support and passion for the products really make my day daily. Not everyone can say they love their job, but due to all you, I can say I do.  So thank all of you.

  • Garmin,

    Thank you so much!

This is why I will get another one at the store because I know I can count on you if something goes wrong :)

Here is what has happened to the device

1- 2 days after purchased I noticed the strap getting stuck, basically it would not move down unless I force it . This do not worry me is just a band and it can be replaced :)

2- Yesterday morning when I woke up at 8AM I had a message on the watch screen saying it updated to 3.50 ( it updated while I was sleeping )

3- The watch continued to work normal

4- At around 5 PM I was at my desk typing on the keyboard and I moved my arm up to check the time and screen was blank

5- After that I hold the power bottom for up to a minute, released it, press it again and nothing, screen was still blank

6- During all that the LEDs for the heart sensor where still flashing like if the watch where working fine

7- Connected watch to computer and nothing still same issue.

8- Removed watch from my arm and left it on the desk and after a few minuets I looked at it and the screen was back on

9 After that I did a factory default, connected watch to PC and sync with connect

10- So far all working good except the battery that is showing that my actual consumption is 0.600 and it goes up and 1000 by itself. The battery went from 95 to 63 in 19 hours as per the battery widget

    Hope that helps :)

  • I also called my local store and they do not have any expedition nor Athlete in stock. I will just pass by on Saturday and return it before I reach the 30 days and once it they get the Athlete in Stock I will buy it.

  • It’s always a pity when something you enjoy viscerally fails like that! I feel for you!

if I may voice an opinion, DON’T get an athlete instead! I think you won’t like it as much, the looks and feel of the expedition is what did it for you, don’t go down a step!
if you no longer trust in the expedition you should really consider getting an aviator and try and convince Garmin to throw in an expedition strap, I do think the aviator is that good!

  • Hi,

Actually I am loving the Athlete lol! I just got it 3 hours ago and I like this one even more :) the Vo2 Max and Recovery built in the Bezel is fantastic :)

Now for some reason, the screen on the Expedition looks bigger than the Athlete, I believe that is becasue the seconds, minutes and hour marks were on the bezel instead of the display, and since the Athlete has the Vo2 on the bezel and the minutes and hours on the display it make it look smaller.

Other than that I am loving it to be honest :)

  • All the better! Enjoy it!
