Display alignment - MARQ Expedition

I was wondering if anyone else could post a picture of their MARQ Expedition with the default watch face when the seconds arm is at 15 seconds or 45 seconds and see if it aligns with the horizontal bezel lines. (in the middle of the white line).

I feel like i'm going crazy and i'm not sure if the watch face just doesn't line up or if the screen isn't physically aligned properly in the x axis by ~ 2 pixels of height with the bezel.

Thank you in advance. I really appreciate it.

Update: Display is definitely misaligned. In direct sunlight, the edge of the display is clearly visible - which is normal and expected - but has wider gap on the top than the on the bottom towards the garmin logo Disappointed Gonna try to exchange this, else will return Disappointed

  • I think this is a similar issue to the alignment of the VO2 marker on the Athlete that I've posted about in another thread.  It comes down to maths and in this case Garmin's decision to make the second hand 3 pixels wide (as far as I can tell from your picture).  As the screen resolution is an even number of pixels, it's not possible to have the second hand exactly in the middle (either vertically or horizontally), as for it to have an equal number of pixels above and below it, the screen resolution would have to be and odd number.  Do you see the same with the 12:00 marker?  So the second hand is always going to be offset by 1 pixel at the 12,3,6 and 9 o'clock markers.  Garmin could have got around that by slightly offsetting the markers, but that would have probably looked wrong.

This is all just my theory though so might be totally wrong, but I do think the maths means that there has to be an issue with alignment

  • No, it's perfectly in the middle on the 12 and 6 o'clock markers, which makes me think the display might be misaligned slightly on the x axis (shifted down a bit towards the garmin logo). I just wanted to see if anyone else had the same issue. I kind of expected better quality control on the MARQ series.

  • hi...same on my, i honestly recognized it also, but that small miss alignment is ok for me so far. i do not see it unless i want to see it.

I see the very same effect on the F5+ when using watch faces featuring a 3 pixel width second hand. As mentioned, the second hand cannot align with the 3 and 9 markers given the third row of pixels on the hand. It'll either have to be slightly above or below the centre and Garmin have opted to go below.

  • Hi,

Did you ever got that solve? I am thinking on buying one and one to be sure that is no longer an issue.

    Thanks

  • You might want to look into the current beta of 3.42 since one of the key points of the update is 'Fixed an issue where altimeter data was misaligned on the watch face.'

Our you can wait for the next update to come out if you do not feel comfortable with beta software.

  • This fix has been put in the new software release 3.50. If you continue to run into issues, please reach out to Garmin Support and/or start a new thread.

  • Hi Garmin,

The update did not fix that issue.

I honestly do not care about it since I am never looking at the seconds lol but I just wanted to let you know.

  • Thank you for the feedback.
