Athlete VO2 Max Pointer Misaligned

This is going to bug me...  My VO2 Max has just changed to 50, which is the middle of the scale on the default Athlete watch face, so the pointer should be nicely aligned with the 12 o'clock marker.  However, it isn't, it's slightly past it - see picture.

I guess if the tip of the pointer is 1 pixel wide and the screen is an even number of pixels wide then it's impossible to actually have the pointer centred, but I just can't stop myself noticing it every time I look!  Fearful

My VO2 Max with my f5+ was 52, so all I can do is hope that over time it'll settle back to that (or something other than 50!)

  • Is it possible that it's calculating at 50 plus some percentage of 51?

  • Didn't think of that but you're right, it could be.  However, from the picture it looks like there's 2 pixels of the 12 o'clock marker visible to the left of the pointer and just one to the right, so it never can be centered even if it is exactly 50.

But thanks though, I can now keep telling myself that my VO2 Max is 50.5 and that's why it's like it is Relaxed

  • I think your vo2max isn't exactly 50.  I've noticed it on my old garmin fenix 5s plus on the screen that displays your vo2max with an arrow.  Sometimes it would be borderline next number or number before.  A good or bad run would push it into the next number usually.

  • I think everyone else has this right,  you're not spot on at 50. The watch records a 2 decimal place value and then rounds up or down to the nearest whole number for the value displayed in the watch graphics. I sync my account to runalyze and when that system reads the file it displays the full calculated value.
