HRM not very accurate during exercise

Just got the MARQ and have a few workouts under my belt. I really like the device, but one big problem:

During an activity, the HRM reads very HIGH. Today, I wore my F5S with a chest strap for comparison. The MARQ read 20-30% higher than other device.

I did notice that if I disabled the HRM and then re-enabled it, the HRM would be pretty accurate for a while. I think that suggests a software bug.

Anybody else seeing this?

  • I've been wearing mine for a couple of days and notice the same thing;  my Fenix 5+ and Apple Watch is significantly lower than what I'm seeing with the MARQ.

As a test I watched the heart rate drop from 86 to 71 just by turning on my HRM - this is as I type this message.  Now the heart rate now is staying between 68-71.  When I started to type this message (with HRM turned off) it was 88 and that is not normal for me.

This is just normal use, no exercising.  All my runs have been with a HRM.

  • I am not seeing any HR related irregularities.

  • Yes, I am noticing this issue with my Expedition.  I wear a heart rate strap for just about every run, and the numbers being reported seem higher than I am accustomed to seeing.

  • I did a comparison with the Polar H10 and the Marq for an easy bike ride (no way it has a chance with a hard ride):

The segment circled was a flat section of road with continuous pedaling.  Not bad.

But here is the difference between the two:

Every time I coasted, the heart rate stayed high on the Marq

Here is a series of loops on a perfectly flat pavement with coasting between easy segments

So it seems that the Marq does not respond to rate change well.  Possibly ok on a steady interval, smooth pavement or indoors.  Not good outside with road vibration.
