Updating Garmin HRM-Run software (red belt)

I just received a replacement HRM strap (red) after my previous 1 week old hr strap refused to play nice with my MARQ Expedition.
As reported in the current issues topic, I have been seeing big running dynamics reporting dropouts.

Both the previous and the current strap came with software version 3.40 any ideas on how to update it to 6.60???

You should put it on, ensure that it is connected and search in the accessories menu an option to update sw or after a while it might report that there is an update available and ask if you want to proceed with it.

Version 6.60 is the up to date version for the First Generation HRM Run (the one that allows you to remove the pod from the strap). The version you have, as far as I'm aware, is correct at version 3.XX, but exactly what the XX is I cannot say (I have two Gen 1 HRM Runs, so have never seen the need to invest in the newer ones as the Gen 1 pods work like a dream when paired up to the Polar Premium Soft Strap). If the software does need updating, it happens something like this:

HRM Run Paired to watch
Watch gets synced with Garmin servers via Express or GCM and 'the system' notes that an accessory has out of date sw
The sensor software is pushed to the watch via Express or GCM during a sync
The watch then pushes the software to the sensor when they are next connected

That's how I remember it going way back in 2014/2015 when the Gen 1 HRM Run needed the 6.60 update.

Ah, I see. So that's clearly not the reason why I am seeing running dynamics dropouts..

3.40 is the latest available for HRM-Run (Actually HRM4-Run, RED)

Thanks everyone I got an old 1-gen HRM3-RUn with V6.1 which I was able to update using the firmware from this thread and my FR955
