Let us share some enthusiasm about this gorgeous watch coming our way.

Here is my story; being an old Omega Seamaster owner, I was actually looking for something alike in quality. I looked at Omega, TAG Heuer and alike. However allthough all these watches are very nice, each and every time I came to the conclusion that I can't live without 24/7 HR and smart notifications. I am a passionate athlete; so I much like to keep track on my resting HR. And that's actually it - none of the premium brands I looked at deliver that.

And then Marq is being launched - just in the middle of my search :-) What a funny coincidence! Cause BOOM - this is just what I was looking for. Mann that was a sweet surprise :-)

Since I am an athlete, I ordered the Marq Athlete version. That watch has exactly what I want. Really nice materials, 3. gen OHR, and smart notifications. Plus add to this - all Fenix' functionallity, a speedier processor and 12 days battery.

Oh yeah!

Despite being expensive - and please don't get me wrong here - I think this is bang on. I don't mind paying premium for premium. Yes - one could argue the display resolution is not high enough. Personally I would have liked to see HD graphics. But honestly said - that's not the deal breaker for me. The materials are though. And this is where I believe Garmin did the right choice. Premium materials with long battery and an OK display.

So I can't wait to get mine :-)

What about you? What version did you buy?

  • I'm thinking of ordering another strap and take advantage of the 20% discount that I got when registering my Athlete. Not sure which of the titanium straps would look better.. Swept-link Titanium Bracelet, Hybrid Titanium/Silicone Bracelet – Carbon Gray DLC or Carbon Gray DLC Titanium. Any suggestions?

Edit: Not sure if the straps are eligible for the discount as there is obviously a * attached to the text.
  • I never even got a 20% accessory discount email. I thought that to be rather lame of a move...
  • How many CIQ apps can Marq take?

Sorry about the delay on this, but I wanted to confirm. The max CIQ apps is 32.

received my athlete from JURA today. Magnificent looking watch !

my poor fenix 3 looks awful alongside it :D

Reach out to me directly but I need to investigate the discount percent too. So, Cato, if you wouldn’t mind reaching out to me too, I would like to see the email sent out to.

I’ve pm’d the link embedded in the 20% discount email sent to me, which displays an online version of the email. It doesn’t say it’s directly linked to registering a new MARQ though.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1480130.jpg

Attached is the e-mail I received.

  • Hello. Just received Expedition from Jura.
Could somebody please explain how to provide GPS data for third party watchface? For 5x I start activity and wait green signal but this method is not working on Expeditions. Few watchface not able to get GPS and show sunrise/sunset.
    Thank you
  • Are you saying that when you start an activity that requires GPS that you are not getting GPS lock? Please don't take this as an insult, but you have tried to get a satellite lock with your watch outside with an activity selected? What happens then? Have you paired your watch to a smartphone? Some of the information for watch faces requires you to be paired to a smartphone.

Hello, correct. I did as before with Fenix 5 plus. Outside start activity like runing or walking, wait green circle on top to lock GPS and go back but its not working for me anymore.
I am able to get GPS lock only when activity works in background. Start activity -> Settings -> Watchface settings -> change wathcface -> stop activity

How long did you wait for the lock? For my first activity with the Athlete I had to wait at least 10 minutes until it got a lock. Hoping it was just the initial lock and that it'll be quicker today.
  • I've done enough running with watches on the same arm, different arms, switched arms, and seen little to no difference between the outputs. I don't think it matters whether they are worn on the same arm or different.

In thinking about it, I would hope that GPS tracking would not be arm-dependent anyway.

Crispin_Ellisdon "So maybe the next test needs to be the watches on opposite wrists"

A good designed watch shouldn't present any difference in gps reception when worn on the left or in the right wrist. I never thought that this could be a problem. In a period when I was running with two watches in the same time (I wanted to compare the optical hr of the Garmin FR35 against a Scosche Rhithm+ linked to the FR610) I realized that the watch in the left arm had cleaner tracks. I think that this could probably depends on type and position of antenna in the watch, so for every watch reviewers should probably add a paragraph and compare reception for left and right wrist and say if for that watch it's the same to wear the watch in the left or in the right arm. Maybe this was a problem only for watches of three or for years ago, but it should be worth to investigate also for recent watches (just to be sure). In any case, I think it's not possible to say that for every watch it's the same to wear it on the left or the right arm. We should check it for every model of watch unfortunately. Of course, this is just my opinion because I never read anywhere that there could be a difference in gps reception depending of the arm.
