  • I don't want any of these cheap watches designed and marketed at the common riff raff. I will wait for the diamond encrusted version.
  • Tried on the fenix chronos titanium when the became available and passed because of the low res screen. I decided to wait for a newer version like this to come along.........the first thing I did was check the screen resolution.........the first word that came out of my mouth was that 4 letter word, not just for the low res screen but also for the small screen size. I'll continue using my Apple watch for its excellent screen for running, swimming and use my EDGE 1000 for cycling.

I would have paid $1500 for the Athlete if the specs were better. I'd only buy if it was offered on sale for $600 - $700

The biggest difference here is that the brighter the sunlight, the better the screen looks at zero additional battery cost. Other screen technologies tend to require more power as they try to compensate for brighter ambient light. The Samsung Gear line has one of the very best screens found in a smart watch, but in sunlight it can be almost useless. Add to that the fact that touch screens are pretty horrible while running, and I couldn't see enjoying an apple watch for training)

    Hello nmyeti.
I use my EDGE 1000 for Road Cycling, Mountain Biking & Kayaking..........Been using Garmin products for about 15 years, its been mostly fine and that's why I haven't bought other brands for tracking my training. I use the Apple Watch only for Swimming (works great) and running (works ok, and I'm putting up with it until Garmin releases something with a better screen that is close or matches the Apple Watch) The Apple watch is actually POOR when it comes to customising the screen to add Metrics that Garmin offers. But for Swimming it works Perfectly, except like you said (the touch screen) but i'm fine with that too because I just start it and Stop at the end of my laps.

I'm happy to wait for a better watch screen made by Garmin even if its in 5 years time :)

I'll have to wait and see the screen on the MARQ since its slightly improved from the Garmin Chronos

For the Apple Watch check out the app WorkOutDoors. Its fantastic for running, hiking, walking, all sorts and can give you all sorts of stats on your watch face.

Thanks for the info, ill look into it. If the workouts you do go to the Apple Activity App it would be great but I'm sure they won't and will go to its own WorkOutDoors App on the iPhone.

At the moment I have some workouts go to the Garmin Connect App and some on the Apple Activity App................this I absolutely hate, my workouts are all over the place. Thats why I hope the screen on the Marq would be readable to my older eyes so I can finally get rid of the Apple watch and stick to my EDGE 100 and hopefully the Marq if it passes the Eye Test :)

Workoutdoors fully uses Apple Health to store its data.

  • I heard opinion from the street this new product Marq is dedicated to rich, fat people who don't care sport, because they have enough money and they can buy everything ;-) :)

Yes... just seen one now.in the shop asking about it....very rich.... very fat as you say..... nice car though..... He wants it to look cool.... but didn't buy it ... he went for a nice Zenith instead.... Ps... I buy titanium.... which is now very very cheap....so what premium parts are expensive?...... a 5x Full Titanium bracelet is £25..... Or is it marketing?......and where are the diamonds lol...
    .
