  • Now we know why the 5x Plus updates are almost non existent. :)
Apparently 849€ is just coffee money for Garmin now.
Even if I had or could get 1500€ plus for the new Marq line, i'd rather stick with the Fenix line, at least the software bugs are cheaper.
  • Maybe, but who buys a smart watch for longevity? £2250 for the Driver model. With the constant buggy software Garmin produces...no thanks.

I heard opinion from the street this new product Marq is dedicated to rich, fat people who don't care sport, because they have enough money and they can buy everything ;-)
    :)
  • But due to the SONY GPS chip the battery should last longer now.

It does last longer than the similarly sized F5+ (non-X).

    And the price tag

It's a luxury item. Being expensive is a feature.

  • Really now wireless charging? This isn`t even an innovation any more, this is standard ...(:
(but I think they want to handle charing and data transfer (especially maps) via one cable)
  • Could you please share more details about
    • New Live Event Sharing Feature
    • New Body Battery Energy Monitor
    • New Heat and altitude acclimation feature
    • New Training Load Focus feature
    • New Primary Benefit (Training Effect Labels) feature
    • New respiration rate feature
    • New indoor track running profile
  • I believe this new MARQ series creates more questions than answers. What is Garmin’s long term vision for these wearables? The MARQ series was created with some upgraded features but what does that do to the Fenix lineup? How do they upgrade the Fenix without stepping on the MARQ series? They have a series that now costs $1000’s of dollars that is tailored towards a new clientele but when they upgrade the Fenix with the widgets and “look” of the MARQ series, does that discourage someone from buying the MARQ?

They’ve also opened up a can of worms with the MARQ series (if it requires consistent updates like the other watches), as we all see the threads/complaints about a $700 watch and it’s sofware issues. What do you think will happen with a $2500 watch?

Most of these questions are answered in the Owners Manual http://static.garmin.com/pumac/MARQ_Athlete_OM_EN-US.pdf

All these questions have already been answered a couple of years ago when Garmin released the Chronos, and shortly after that the F5.
  • I would like to see the strap lugs from the MARQ series come to the Fenix 6. Same case size for the FR645 and the F5S+ but the 645 fits my smaller wrist better because it has a similar strap lug to the MARQ series.

The typical Fenix type lugs look okay and, gives a more rugged appearance, on the F5 & F5X models but just make the F5S+ look ungainly.

DC Rainmaker’s video review. Fast forward to the 10:00 mark for a UI demonstration. Fast forward to the 13:00 mark where he talks about the most important issue (to me) about GPS accuracy. A little disconcerting as it’s possible that this (GPS Chipset) will be on all the new 2019 models of Garmin watches.
