I have the Instinct and have found it to be unreliable (and I'm being nice considering the values reported by the device are very often double of reality) for elevation changes during a hike. In searching this forum I can see that unreliable elevation data is a common complaint. I wear my Instinct on my wrist and in winter over top of the sleeve of my hardshell (I use a chest strap for HR data).
Elevation data is a key metric for me and so I wear a very accurate Suunto altimeter on my other wrist. However, I would prefer to wear only one device. Is there a different model of Garmin wearable whose elevation change data is known to be accurate and reliable?
