Text message issues

A Garmin instinct paired to an iPhone 12 with iOS 16. I receive all notifications on my watch except text messages. I have checked and have notifications enabled. Is anyone else having problems like this?

    For iOS specifically, the #1 cause of your issue is your iPhone's Settings > Notifications > Messages menu. On the bottom half in Messages under the heading of "Lock Screen Appearance", ensure Show Previews is set to "Always (Default)"

  • I too just started having this issue.  All notifications, Weather, Email, FB Msgr, Outlook, Calendar, YouTube etc work fine and come through, but texts just stopped working yesterday after a bike ride, where I was connected to phone (Garmin Connect) and broadcasting HR from Instinct to my Garmin Edge 830.   

    GARMIN:  I've been through all the documentation and trouble shooting steps.  I KNOW how to set up the notifications, as I'm getting them for all other services.  I've fully reset the watch after this happened, which too a long and inconvenient time, as well as delete and redownload the Garmin Connect app.  I have an iPhone SE v3 running iOS16.3.  

    Additionally I was never able to receive text on my Edge 830 and just gave up after Garmin was of no assistance.

    GARMIN: Please look into this issue further.  Nothing was changed on our devices, the text/sms notifications just stopped working out of the blue.

  • I am sorry there is an issue. If you haven't already, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region. If you have done all troubleshooting, I am hoping there might be a step that has not been tried, so your issue can be resolved for you.
