Instinct not sensing anything

Looking to see if anyone has had similar problems and found a solution. For a couple of months now, the HR monitor only works randomly and most other sensors are not working and reporting zero activity (e.g., sleep, steps, calorie counting, stress, body battery). I've hard reset the watch, downgraded the system software to several different versions, wiped all data from the watch to no avail.  It's two years old.  Can anyone help with this?  If a bad update bricked the functionality of the watch, will Garmin replace it or am I stuck buying something new?

  • Did you try downgrading also the sensor hub firmware? That the part is responsible for controlling all the sensors, so it may be the sensor hub that is damaged. In any case, I would not wait before contacting Garmin. If you are in the EU, and the watch is not yet completely over 2 years old, it is still covered by the warranty. Even if it is a few days later, Garmin may accept helping you.

  • I did, but I was never sure I was doing it correctly. Do you happen to know for certain how to do that?  I have various versions of the sensor hub firmware.

  • You should place the file into the folder //GARMIN/REMOTESW and in order that it replaces the current version, it should be a different version than your watch currently reports

  • Thank you. I’ll give that a try. I’m in the U.S. and the watch is a little more than two years old. It’s disappointing and makes re reluctant to upgrade with another Garmin watch.

  • After trying all kinds of combinations of watch and sensor firmware to no avail, I contacted Garmin support.  I have to give them a huge shout-out.  They diagnosed the watch as having a bad sensor and are sending me a new one.  I'm a year out of warranty and needless to say a very happy customer.
