Losing Bluetooth connection.

2 year old instinct will not stay connected to chest HR monitor. Often it takes a hour or more to just connect. If it does it will quickly loose connection. It use to work no problem. The HR monitor has new battery and connects to phone fine. Sometimes the watch will loose pairing with phone as well and I have to complete initial watch to garmin connect set up again. I have tried a factory reset but same results. Has anyone had any experience like this. If so what was the solution.

  • I have an instinct that is able to pair with my phone(android) manually in the bluetooth settings, but I within the garmin connect app it will not connect or is it able to find my device.

This started last week when I realized that I wasn't getting notifications on my watch anymore, though I'm not exactly sure what day it all started. I looked and realized that my phone and watch weren't paired. I paired them again, manually, but in the garmin connect app it could not sync and said that the device was not connected.

I removed my device in the garmin connect app to then start the process to add it again, but I've gotten nowhere. It can still pair manually in the bluetooth settings of my phone, but in the garmin connect app, it cannot find my device. I put my watch in pairing mode, I starting the add device in the connect app, and it gets nowhere.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues recently? Was there an update to the android app that ruined all of this?

That's the wrong way. You should never pair the watch directly from the phone's BT menu. Remove it from the list of BT devices, remove it from the Garmin Connect app, and then pair it again, but only from within Garmin Connect. Read the installation instructions in the manual, when in doubts.
