Can it do this?

I work a job in which I do certain tasks and the time when I completed them must be recorded. Is there a way I can make this watch do that? If there is, for the life of me, I haven't been able to find it. I don't need GPS coordinates, speed, maps, waypoints... none of that. I just need to be able to do a task, press a button or something on the watch and have it record a timestamp, the current time. That's it. Then at the end of the day I can look at a list of the timestamps and write it all down.

Is this possible? Like a custom activity I can create or some app or feature I'm missing?

  • I would probably set shortcut:  Settings-System-Hot Keys-(for instance Back+Light)-Screenshot. Of course, at the end you would have to connect the Instinct to the computer and look in the \GARMIN\SCRNSHOT directory.

  • There is another option. Actually, it is the same as using an activity, but it will save some battery and it is somewhat simpler to review the timestamps.

It is possible to use the Stopwatch and record the time you pressed the button. However, you will get timestamps relative to the start, not absolute ones (time of the day). The drawback is, you must know the time of the day when you started the Stopwatch. This, however, may not be a big deal, because you can always go back to the watchface, see what is the time right now and calculate when you started.

If that suits your needs, you can access the Stopwatch by holding BACK button, then scrolling a bit until you find it. If you need to use or see something else while it is running, just hold BACK again to hide it.
