Can it do this?

I work a job in which I do certain tasks and the time when I completed them must be recorded. Is there a way I can make this watch do that? If there is, for the life of me, I haven't been able to find it. I don't need GPS coordinates, speed, maps, waypoints... none of that. I just need to be able to do a task, press a button or something on the watch and have it record a timestamp, the current time. That's it. Then at the end of the day I can look at a list of the timestamps and write it all down.

Is this possible? Like a custom activity I can create or some app or feature I'm missing?

You can create a custom indoor activity (or using one of the existing ones), starting, pausing / resuming, and stopping it whenever you want. You can then review the total time in Garmin Connect.

Edit: you could also let the activity run all the day, and use the Lap button, to tag the timestamps, if you prefer that.

I'm not sure this is what I'm looking for. I wouldn't need to know the total time of my work day. I would need to see the actual times the button was pressed.

I was hoping the end result at the end of the day would be a list of timestamps. (Timestamps: 09:04, 11:33, 13:12, 15:52... etc)

In the meantime, I edited my initial post - you can tag the timestamps with the Lap button. Of, course, the time will be relative to the activity start, but you can see the start time in the details of the activity, and add it.

BTW, the exact timestamps (in Epoch format) are available in the FIT file, and in the background data. So if you can script, or do not mind looking at the JSON source data, you can get them even with the first method.

... and if you owned Instinct 2 (not the old Instinct), then I could write you a simple Connect IQ app adding the timestamps to the activity output in Garmin Connect.

So what you're telling me is... sell this watch and buy a better one? I can do that. Is there a market for couple months old watches?

I did not tell anything like that. You can keep the watch, and use one of the suggested methods. I just asked, for the case that you posted to the wrong forum for Instinct, while having in fact Instinct 2, because it would allow yet another solution. (many Instinct 2 owners do that mistake)
