Yes, the beta version installation zip package always includes also the previous stable version as a fallback. The last one is in the thread https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/instinct/290859/instinct---17-00-public-release-candidate 

My bet is that the sensor hub firmware was corrupted during your firmware update, so make sure to replace it too. If the HRM starts to work after the downgrade, you can then upgrade to the last version again. If it does not help, contact the Support.

Thanks. I downloaded the files and did everything as per guide... it seems i must have done something wrong, as my watch doesnt do anything upon restart...

Just to recap: 

- connect watch via USB

- Open GARMIN folder on watch

- move System_backdate_XXXX into GARMIN folder

- turn watch off

- turn watch on

- wait for install routine

...doesn´t do it for me...any ideas?

That's not what is written in the instructions. The exact instructions are in the file Readme.txt:

To backdate: find the 'System_Backdate_X.XX' folder and copy the "GUPDATE.GCD" file to the Garmin folder of your watch. Then unplug and install. Your watch will begin the backdate process. Backdating software will revert your watch to factory default.

If you copied the entire folder System_backdate_XXXX into //GARMIN/ then remove it first.

Yep, downgrade worked.

However, after this i copied the GUP3467.GCD to the Garmin\RemoteSW as per garmins instructions... should this happen before or after downgrade? because at this stage (done AFTER) nothing changed...

The GUP3467.GCD is the latest Sensor Hub firmware, so it is normal nothing happens, since you already have it. If you want to downgrade the sensor hub, you'd need to find a beta version package with the previous sensor hub firmware.

right. Do i then just copy that into the Garmin\RemoteSW folder or is there some other procedure?

Yes, that should work. At least it works in this way when you upgrade the sensor hub. I never tried downgrading the sensor hub, so cannot tell for sure, although I believe it should work.

Ok...here´s the thing: i just realized that the sensorhub file i had was A) indeed for an upgrade to 17.00 and b) for the Instinct SOLAR...

Would you know where to search for a sensorhub file for my hardware? I tried the search but could not identify anything suitable...

You will have to browse through the past threads in the Instinct Solar subforum, trying to find the previous beta version, containing the right sensor hub firmware. You can also try contacting the Support and asking them, whether they could send it to you. Or you can ask one of the beta testers, who kept the file, to send it to you privately - best done in the recent beta firmware thread.
