Livetrack not starting when there is no phone signal.

I added myself to my recipients so that I can tell that the livetrack has or has not started.

This doesn't sound very good, especially since Livetrack could be very useful in areas with intermittent or poor mobile signals to provide at least some helpful information in the case of something going wrong on a hike.

I guess MapShare provides this function using InReach via satellite, although it says in the app: "your MapShare page is only updated when your Garmin Explore Mobile app has a data connection"

I get that Livetrack will not work without a phone signal (so useless for me a lot of the time in the mountains & valleys of Cumbria) but... will Livetrack start/restart once I get into an area that does have a mobile phone signal?

Simple question but one that I cannot find the answer to.

Once Livetrack successfully starts, if it the phone looses signal, it will continue when the phone regains signal.  I live in an area that has a marginal signal.  By sending the notification to myself, I know when Livetrack has really started and I can start my activity.  After that, it can loose and regain the signal multiple times until I'm done and stop Livetrack.  But stopping Livetrack can be as iffy as starting it.

I will try tomorrow.

I have a hike along Borrowdale, Cumbria planned and I am pretty sure I will have GPS at the start, lose it along the valley and regain it when I get up to the Whinfell transmitter mast (ironic!) at just shy of 500m.

Did my hike yesterday and I had a full mobile signal all the way around the 11 mile route.

Will have to wait for another hike to see if the mobile signal hooks up again if it has been lost.
