Heart rate totally wrong

The heart rate on my Instinct is totally wrong (Too much low) in many case.

Like during this trail run, you can look at the crazy elevation where I was barely able to breathe, I checked my self and the HR would stay maybe half the true value (70 and not above 140)

I changed the position of the watch, on both wrist, above and below, and even cleaned the sensor from sweat or anything, many try, the HR stay totally wrong all the way.

It's so disappointing, I had a forerunner previously that for half the price would never had made such wrong report.

  • You could buy a chest HRM, they work well.

I don’t think this problem is watch or even brand specific.

  • I agree the chest monitors work much better than wrist mounted monitors. However, the instinct has other problems. The accuracy varies a great deal depending on activity. It seems most accurate for bike. For cardio mine is 30 beat low. For running it is 30 beats high. It also seems pretty accurate for kayaking but I've only tried that once.

For 5 years I ran with a Forerunner 305 and the chest  monitor was fairly accurate. Unfortunately the chest band gives me a rash, otherwise I would get one for the Instinct.
