I have an Instinct tactical that I often use for land navigation. If I go to the navigation activity, select coordinate I can then punch in a ten digit grid or coordinates and the watch will bring up the distance to the point/target and an arrow to direct my direction of travel. Now if I need to deviate from this course at all the watch will no longer tell me the distance to the point/target but rather the distance I am now offset from the original straight line of travel. I am trying to find a way to change settings or any work around so the watch will only give me the distance to my point/target regardless of how far I have veered of the original straight line of travel. I chatted with an agent who said since the watch does not have mapping this is not a feature of the watch. This makes no sense to me as the watch knows where I am standing do to gps and knows where the grid/coordinate point is. It is giving me the information I want until I need to travel in a less than straight line so it seems like it should be easy to work around this. For now I am constantly starting, stopping, and starting a new navigation every time I need to check distance and direction.
