Instinct - Unknown Alert or notification

I have a Garmin Instinct that I am getting what appears to be an alert or notification daily at near the same time.

Just after 5 AM. It vibrates and lights up, and then a few seconds later does the same. There is no message on the watch indicating WHY it is doing so and my phone indicates no notifications. It is not during an activity. 

There are no alarms on and there is no alert set for "Til Sunset," "Til Sunrise," or "Storm." The Abnormal Heart Rates alerts are off. The Storm Alert is off. Move Alert is off as well.

I am at Software Version 15.40, and I do seem to remember an update fairly recently to that - maybe about a month ago? I do not know if that could somehow be related or not. I do know that this unknown alert behavior is fairly recent.

Since it is happening during a sleep time, I am guessing I could turn on Do Not Disturb but I do not want to miss any real notifications.

Another possibility is resetting the watch. If I do so, would I have to reconfigure my watch face and data screens for my activities?

What I am hoping for is some knowledgeable user or Garmin employee to direct to some setting I am missing that may have been mistakenly turned on which is causing this.

  • It doesn't sound like your watch is the culprit but when something super random happens like your issue, the quickest solution with your examples given would be to reset your watch and then leave it disconnected through Bluetooth to your smartphone for a few days. Your watch will still accumulate your daily wellness data and store saved activities while you wait to see what happens the next couple of mornings. Once you know the answer and Bluetooth pair through your Connect APP again, what you stored during the test will all sync over to your Garmin Connect account.

    If the issue 100% stops after resetting your watch, you now know the mystery becomes your smartphone and tracking down the cause.

    Regarding your question, you will need to Bluetooth pair through the Connect APP again and update your settings. Which would include changing the watch face and/or the data fields for the watch face you prefer and the data screens for your activity APPS.
