Location data field in navigation mode

Why can’t I show the location (grid ref) data field when in navigation mode? I only seem to be able to select and show it in Hike mode.

  • Looking at the available data fields - Instinct Data Fields - I am not seeing what you are referencing. I am seeing the location "Lat/Lon" when using the Tactical APP.

If you do not find what you are looking for, if you would like to work on what you are trying to change in your setup, I will be happy to help further. Highlight my name and send me a Private Message.

  • I just added a Custom Data Screen to the Navigate Activity.  The screen includes the Timer (small window) and Location in the main window.  The location format shows UTM which is my default GPS format.  I started a Navigate Activity navigating to one of my saved locations.  Once the  GPS locked, I was able to see my location (see screenshot below).

  • Thanks D_Estes. My default location display is set to British Grid. Not sure if that makes a difference. When I add a new custom data screen to the display in Navigation Activity it doesn’t give me an option to select ‘location’ or ‘lat/lon’ on the pick lists. You have clearly done this so thanks for posting. I’ll change my default location and try again to see if that works. Only issue is I really want to use British Grid. In Hike activity custom data screen, location is available on the pick list. Just not in Navigation activity. Cheers

  • I changed my default GPS format to British Grid and was able to see the location Data Screen that I created under the Navigate Activity.  I live in the US, so the screen is blank, but the Data Field shows up none the less.

  • When you want to add location (or probably any data which need a larger space to show) to some small part of the display, Instinct silently excludes it from the offer. If you use a 2-field screen and try to add location to the 2nd field, you should be offered by location or lat/long.
  • , you are a genius!  One of those undocumented features.  I did exactly as you described and tried to add the location Data Field into a 5 field layout and the Location Data Field was not a choice in the Navigation Data Fields.  I did, however, discover that if you create a Data Screen with 2 fields and place the Location Data Field into field 2 then change the Data Screen to a 5 Field screen, the location Data Field remains on the Data Screen.

  • Problem solved! Thank you very much for the reply. Really appreciate you taking the time.
