When following a course while hiking, I get frequent on/off course notifications - it seems to be overly sensitive. In the settings, there is an option to disable the "off-course" notifications, but this doesn't disable the "on-course" notifications. Therefore this only disabled half the notifications. I still got frequent vibrations on the watch telling me I was back on course, which was very annoying.
Many others seem to have had the same issue, dating back years (e.g. here)
I contacted support about this. The agent suggested changing GPS recording frequency to every second - however this would not solve the problem for me, as I would not normally follow the courses I use precisely - they are just a guide for navigation.
He then submitted it as a feature request. However I believe this is an error in the original implementation of the feature. Turning off course notifications should turn off all the course notifications - not half - and I can't believe there was an intentional decision that there should be notifications that cannot be disabled. Therefore I think this should be treated more like a bug and implemented more urgently.
A "feature" that would be useful would be the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the on/off course alerts - this could make them more usable for me. But in the shorter term, I would be satisfied with a mechanism to turn off the "on-course" notifications in addition to the off-course.
