Instinct and InReach pairing draining battery

I recently paired my Instinct with my InReach. My watch battery generally lasts quite a while, but since I paired the two my watch battery dies in a week or less. I noticed that my watch says "searching for IR." I don't use my IR all the time so I'm wondering if my watch is using power to try to connect. I've searched unpairing them but I can't find anything. Any advice?

It is best to be in the practice of removing the InReach widget when not using your InReach and Instinct watch together. Since your InReach messages are critical, your watch is looking for it to pull those messages down to the watch for you to notice. It will impact your Instinct's battery.

I am experiencing the same thing. Seems like Garmin should have a way to turn this off without removing the widget.

I also had to remove In Reach from my "controls" to stop it from searching for my in reach...
