    That sounds like an issue with the smartphone or tablet. I would uninstall the app, reboot the device, reinstall the app, and try again.

    A copy of the data should be stored the cloud. You can see it by logging in here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/

    It's possible the reason why the app won't start is that some data has been corrupted so it's possible you may lose that part.

    Also since you haven't been able to use the app for two months it's possible that some of that data may be lost. 

  • Your Instinct watch is storing your wellness data and activity data on its internal memory but it can become full.

    You are backing up your information by syncing it to the 'cloud' - your Garmin Connect web account. Your Garmin Connect Mobile APP on your smartphone, is pulling your synced information down to the APP through using Wi-Fi and your cellular data. Your saved metrics are not saved locally on your phone so you can switch phones and switch watches and/or warranty replace your watch when needed.

    If you ever have a sync issue with the Connect Mobile APP, you can also sync using your computer with Garmin Express. If you have not synced in 2+ months due to the issue that began with your GCM APP on your smartphone, consider occasionally syncing your Instinct with Garmin Express.

    You will be safe deleting the Connect Mobile APP off your phone then downloading it again from your Google Play or Apple APP store. When you sign in, be certain to be using the exact same Garmin Connect web account, which is determined by your email address being used. You can always use your tablet or computer and go to the Garmin Connect webpage and sign-in with that email to ensure you see all your prior synced data to confirm the account.
