Instinct - 14.30 Public Release Candidate

Hello Instinct customers,

The following beta update is equal to 14.20.  As you may see, we did remove 14.20 out of an abundance of caution as we reviewed reports of issues that may have impacted the Instinct and Instinct Solar products.  We did conclude these products were not impacted, and therefore have decided to release 14.30.

Please read the 'notes' and 'installation instructions' in the 'Updates and Downloads' page found in the link below. We look forward to your feedback!

Note: Please allow for the updates to propagate across all servers. There is no need to post that the link does not work. It will after a bit of patience.

14.30 Change Log Notes:

  • Fixed issue where device could randomly freeze and become unresponsive.
Fixed possible issues with Garmin Explore sync.
Fixed course navigation issue where the course would not be found again after going off-course.
    Fixed potential compass performance issue.

For any issues that you encounter, please send an email to [email protected]. In your email please include the software version, and a detailed description of your issue, along with any steps to reproduce. Please note that you may not get a response to the email unless we need more information on the issue you report.

  • Sync to Explore worked fine in 14.20, but since I upgraded to 14.30 only waypoints sync from device to Explore not activities. Any suggestions?

  • if you're attempting to sync old activities, they will not come over.  Only new activities after initial pairing.  I've created several activities that are new and all have synced to my Library as expected.  One other note, if you create a fake activity with no GPS, we will not show activities with no GPS data.

  • Hi Jeff, I really appreciate your help and I unpaired from Explore App, then paired again, went on a 5 mile run and synced, but the activity did not come over to Explore. I then unpaired not only from Explore, but also from phone Bluetooth and paired again fresh where you have to enter the Bluetooth code from the watch. A sync afterwards did also not transfer the activity. Garmin Connect works fine. I will further troubleshoot by maybe installing fresh Explore. I had a similar problem a year or two ago, where I had to delete strangely named activities or waypoints from Instinct to allow sync. Not sure if I'll find something.

  • In order to double check my testing, I did go on several walks last night in an attempt to collect more outdoor GPS activities, and exercise the disconnected from phone, reconnect to phone sync process.  In all cases my activity still uploaded to Explore.

One thought, are you by chance looking for the activity to appear in a collection, but it's actually syncing and now in your Library instead?  Look in the Library Activities section and see if they're in that section.

  • Hi Jeff, I got it working. Perhaps in my attempts above only the actual bluetooth re-pairing with phone did the trick and not just the relinking in Explore. As my test activity was before the re-pairing it did not show up afterwards making me think the procedure was not successful. Anyhow, many thanks for your support!

  • Glad to hear!  Thanks for the follow up.
