Garmin Instinct “Now” temperature is not accurate

The “Now” temperature reading on my Garmin Instinct never reads the same as my iPhone and often gets stuck for days on a single number.  This seems to be a common problem.  My phone tracks location always; the weather app is set to update always; Garmin Connect has all available phone permissions; all relevant apps are set to refresh in the background.  This is a very annoying bug that has not yet been fixed but should be.

  • Keep your Garmin Connect Mobile APP open at all times on your iPhone. Sync your Instinct in the morning when you start your day and leave the GCM APP open. Keep in mind, the temperature does not come from your iPhone Weather APP. It comes from the internet through legacy weather stations that are often at airports that may not be near you. The weather feature is a tool. It can be helpful but your iPhone weather APP will always be more accurate.

  • Hi bro!

This is a very specific (bug) software designers' choice to get "now" temp not from built-in temperature sensor. Obviously it is too easy for everyone but  "now" data is taken from meteorological station somewhere (nobody actually knows where it is located) around you). Very smart, very smart!  To know actual temp you need to open temp widget on watch and you will see actual temp. Nothing easy than this couldn't be invented.

  • The temperature widget tells you the temperature of the watch, not the outdoor temperature, or the temperature of the air you are standing in. The watch will be warmed by your wrist and the reading will not be of much practical use (with the exception, possibly, of when swimming).

  • Warming ip 1,5-2 degrees isn't affect real data. You can easily eleminate it from measurement. But if your watch lying on table it must be accurate. But realisation of how user must know actual temp from the watch with  built-in temp sencor through the phone, and data read from weather station nobody know where it is located It is stupid.

  • I just fixed mine. I pushed GPS, waited to aquire signal, then saved location. I shows the correct temperature in the "now" window.
