Outlook calendar notifications

Hi All

Is there a way that I can get my appointments etc that are on my outlook calendar to come up as a notification on my Instinct?

I have an Android based phone and use the outlook app.

I don't want to receive any emails on my Instinct, I just want to be notified of any thing that is in my calendar.

Many thanks in advance.

  • I'm using the Android Connect app version 4.41.1. There is no "smart notifications" under settings as indicated in the instructions link.

  • On the Android app the corresponding sequence is: Settings -> Notifications -> App Notifications

  • You are correct. However their instructions state on an Android phone it's Settings> Smart Notifications.

I have my calendars selected, but never receive any notifications from them on my Instinct. That seems to be the same issue as the topic starter.

  • Smart Notifications is the corresponding setting on the watch: Settings -> Phone -> Smart Notifications. To receive the Calendar notifications on the watch, you must have these "Smart Notifications" activated on the watch, as a necessary (but not sufficient) conditions. But the place where you decide which notifications get sent to the watch is on the Connect app Settings -> Notifications -> App Notifications. And, of course, you need to allow that selected app to send notifications on both Android and the application itself. So: if the app is sending notifications, Android is allowing them, Connect has that app authorized, and the Smart Notifications non the watch are enabled, you should be getting them.

If not, I would suggest resetting the watch, and possibly reinstalling Connect, but you probably did that already.

    Best of luck

  • The instructions from Garmin specifically say on an Android phone in the Garmin connect app it's Settings> Smart Notifications.  They never state smart notifications on the watch under phone settings.  Looks like Garmin needs a proof reader to verify their instructions.

I already have the watch set up to receive notifications like you described.  Most of my calendar events were not created to send notifications since I always just opened the calendar often prior to getting the Instinct.  I created one to test for that.  The alert came through.  The topic starter may need to check for notifications when creating the events also and the calendar permissions on the phones apps settings.

Not trying to be argumentative. Just the wording on Garmin's page is not correct.

  • I understood your point. Glad to know that you now  have your notifications. Enjoy your Instinct. It's a great watch, despite the occasional bugs.️

  • Here is an updated article, thank you for bringing the change needed in the other article to our attention:

How Do I Setup Which Notifications Display on My Garmin Device?

  • Thanks, appreciate it when companies actually read users input and make updates/adjustments as needed.

  • Click File > Options > Calendar. To turn default reminders on or off for all new appointments or meetings, under Calendar options, select or clear the Default reminders check box. If you select the check box, enter how long before the appointment or meeting when you want the reminder to appear.

    This May Help,
