Turn-by-turn course navigation broken in 13.20 update

If you use turn-by-turn course navigation, you should know that it no longer works after the 13.20 update. I found out the hard way, but thanks to helpful posts on the Instinct Solar forum, I was able to downgrade to 12.20 and get my watch working again. If you haven't updated to 13.20 yet and are still on 12.20, and you use turn-by-turn course navigation, I recommend turning off automatic updates NOW! See my posts in this thread on Instinct Solar: forums.garmin.com/.../13-20---hiking-navigation-behavior-different-from-12-20

  • Turn by turn works until the first loss of the course, after that you will never back to on course anymore, this is the problem, losing the path, the watch d'ont know where we are an shows no graph progress or navigation data. Confirmed after the 13.20 update.

  • Thanks for confirming. Another user on the Instinct Solar forum added this: "It will show the distance to the waypoint, reach 0, and then will not advance to the next waypoint for the duration of the entire course."

Based on my testing, I think you're both right. As soon as you lose the course or reach the first waypoint, turn-by-turn stops working.

  • I have a variation of this problem. I can create a route on Garmin Express but when it uploads, the route always shows as 0km distance on the instinct. Consequently nothing shows up on the map and turn-by-turn course navigation does not work.

    Additional information:

    - After the 13.20 upgrade, something went wrong with routes that were already uploaded to the device from Explore (i.e. from before the upgrade). I suddenly had 2 copies of everything, one with the correct distance and one with a zero distance. Eg. If I previously uploaded a route called "my route" that was 5km long, I now had "my route" that was 5km, and "my route 1" that was 0km

    - There are now constant sync problems with Garmin explore. Before the upgrade explore would correctly show if the device was connected or not. Now the instinct often says connected but the explore app says not connected and sync failed. I need to fiddle with things (eg. turn off bluetooth on the instinct, maybe also on the phone, turn on again, etc) before things start working again
