I tracked my first ride using my new Instinct yesterday. Everything seems to have recorded fully when I export the TCX file but on my connect app the data isn't correct. Anyone else experiencing proems with this? Have a look at the moving time and elevation Thinking

  • Looks like your GPS was not functional most of the time. How does the map of the activity look like? Did the GPS field in the round "eye" show the check sign before you started the ride? What is the status of the EPO file? See it in watch's Menu » Settings » About, on one of the ast screens (scroll down ~9 times).

Connect the watch with USB cable to the computer, and check for updates with Garmin Express. Read more about it here:

Expired EPO on a Garmin Outdoor Watch

You can also enable the option GPS+Galileo in the setting of the concerned Activity profile, to have the watch getting a quicker lock on the GPS satellites, and to have a more reliable signal, when in difficult conditions.

Also, the altimeter needs a calibration. Best done before each activity, or using the auto-calibration option (though many users prefer calibrating manually, to have better control about the time it happens, since the automated mode is a bit capricious)

  • Hey Trux, Thanks for your reply.

The map looks pretty accurate including the climbs. I'll have a look at some of the other things you spoke about and see what happens. When I try calibrating the altimeter I get a calibration failed error message. Watch isn't recognising floors either.

    Thanks
