Heart rate with swimming now works?

Same happened with me on my Garmin Instinct. I really hope it’s not a bug...

You refer for swimming pool or open water?

For me, it was in the pool. I’m yet to replicate it though. Tried it in open water yesterday and it didn’t work but I’ll be heading to the pool this evening. I can’t find anything online about about it (except for this thread) so I’m guessing it’s some sort of anomaly. 

How do u activated the heart sensor during the swimming pool? Supposed that it became off as soon you start the pool activity. I am curious if you could post a image about the activity. Thanks

Which SW version do you have ? I am really interested on capture my heat rate during the swimmings it would make my watch perfect for me :)

I have used my Instinct in the water (sea) for the first time this week. When I used the Open Water activity, as expected, it didn't record a heart rate. However, when I used a custom activity (Snorkel), it did. Which suggests that the Instinct is perfectly capable of recording HR in the water.

I'm sure it can record HR data, but probably the accuracy is very low and this is why Garmin decided to turn this off.

I have 10.10 firmware on my watch.
I have swum 3 times since last week.
And today (only today) my watch recorded my heart rate on a pool activity!
I didn't do anything special.
It must be a bug.
At the same time in 3 weeks, my watch didn't register my heart rate on 2 walks....

Just swam again today and my HR was recorded (pool swim). I hope this continues - the readings give good correlation to effort so I'm happy with the readings and estimate of effort, calories, etc.
