Watch crashes and restart itself in running/walk mode (GPS enabeled)

Watch crashes and restart itself in running/walk mode (GPS enabeled). I get screen with GARMIN letters come on and then screen with RESUME RUN, PAUSE RUN, STOP ETC (or is it watch crushing!?)

This happened today within 5 km maybe 5-6 times. I have to press resume every time. It makes me mad!

I noticed, that if weather is sunny - no problems, everything works fine. But if it's cloudy or rainy - I keep loosing GPS. It's second time I have this issue and both times it was very cloudy. Today also cloudy with small rain.

I have firmware version 9.20 and in settings I had GPS ONLY. If I put GPS+ GLONASS OR ULTRATRACK - will this solve the problem?

I bought this watch to use primarily for running but it's totally useless if it will loose GPS in running mode. Is it firmware issue or what? My old forerunner 230 never had any issues with GPS!

This suggests that this is not a GPS issue, but rather your watch is crashing. If you say this only happens in wet conditions, then perhaps moisture is penetrating the watch causing a malfunction. I'd contact garmin support.

Sorry for confusion. It was very cloudy with very very little rain (watch didn't get wet ,just few drops of water got on it) for a few minutes. The rest time was no rain, just clouds. I have check similar topic, when people had crashing their Instinct and no mention of moisture getting inside as possible problem. Is it firmware issue?

Update to the latest beta firmware 9.97, it will most likely solve your problem

Also, if it had nothing to do with GPS, why watch do not crush during day when it used as primary watch (no GPS activated)? It's only crashes when GPS activated? And ccasionally?

It looks like problem DO related to GPS? Isn't it?

It is very safe. Connect the watch with a usb cable to a computer and then copy the gupdate.gcd file from the instinct_997beta folder of the zip file into the garmin folder of the watch. Safely remove the watch if on a windows pc and follow the prompt on the watch

Thank you. I just updated firmware to 9.97 beta. I guess I have to go and check how it will work during run. Today I will try to test with walking or biking and tomorrow morning during run activity.

I will post results here. I hope firmware update will fix crashing issue.
