Battery life while sleeping

I have noticed two things about the battery and not sure whether my configuration is wrong or if that's just something I need to get used to.

1. I went on a 30km hike, about 11 hours. Battery almost died at about 9th hour mark. If I pause/resume a lot, does it affect the battery life (mostly taking pictures etc.)

2. I usually charge it during my evening routine. It seems to be enough and it charges fully, or so I think, then I wake up and 1 bar (20%) is already gone. Is that normal?

  • It could be that you are misinterpreting the meaning of the charging bars display.  Each bar is not a maximum indicator, but rather a threshold indicator.

    For the sake of discussion let's represent the charging bars like this: ||||| 5 bars.  Each bar represents a 20% range of charge as follows:

    | 1bar = 1 - 20%

    || 2 bars = 21 - 40%

    ||| 3 bars = 41 - 60%

    |||| 4 bars = 61 - 80%

    ||||| 5 bars = 81 - 100%

    So, the best we can determine state of charge by looking at the bars is a range of 20%.  In other words, if you charge your watch until you first see 5 bars, it may only be 81% charged - not fully 100%.  That might explain why you see that 5th bar go away so quickly.

    It is usually best to leave the watch on a charger for some time beyond when it first indicates full to assure it is really fully charged.
